How to Make Coffee Taste Better (18 Tips & Tricks)

Dont forget to add salt to your oatmeal

We hear a lot about how we need to watch our sodium intake, and it’s a big deal — the American Heart Association says that most people are already eating way more than their recommended limit of 1,500 mg a day. Cutting out a pinch here and a pinch there might seem like a great way to cut back, but if you cut out the salt when you’re making your oatmeal, you’ll start to regret it in the long run.

After about the second spoonful, to be precise.

That’s because salt is a flavor enhancer, and when it comes to oatmeal, it brings out the natural nutty, slightly toasted flavor of the oats — and those are flavors that work whether your final dish is going to be sweet or savory. There’s a little more to it, as well. Prevention adds that you’ll need to make sure you add your salt at the beginning of the process. If you wait until the end to salt it, you’ll end up tasting the salt instead of the flavors you’re trying to accentuate.

The best tasting instant coffee

Before we go too much further, let me start by saying your instant coffee will only be as good as the brand you buy, and there is one instant coffee brand that clearly stands out above all the rest: Waka Coffee.

Waka is bringing a specialty coffee sensibility to the instant coffee market, and their 100% single-origin Arabica coffee is easily the closest thing to fresh-brewed you will find. Their Colombian is a nice, medium roast with citrus notes, quite unlike any instant coffee you may know.

Their coffee comes in boxes of single-serve packets, and they donate a portion of proceeds to clean-water efforts around the globe.

If you can get your hands on some Waka, you’re off to a good start.

Make your oatmeal chocolately

It sounds 100 percent weird, but look at it this way: how delicious are chocolate chip oatmeal cookies? They’re so good you’re always disappointed if you find out they’re actually raisins, right? So do the same with your oatmeal!

It’s easy, too. Start cooking your oats, and while they’re boiling, mix water and cocoa powder into a sauce that’s as chocolatey as you’d like. Then add that into your oatmeal when it’s halfway done or better, and you’ll have delicious, chocolate oats… and no one will judge you if you throw in some chocolate chips, either.

You can go a step farther, too, because this is the perfect kind of oatmeal to top with a swirl of peanut butter (or your other, favorite nut butter). There’s also bananas and strawberries, because everyone knows how amazing those two fruits are in particular when you’re talking about chocolate. You might just end up making this one for dessert, too.

Lemon or lime

You might not think it’s not a good idea to add a citrus flavor to an already acidic drink, but think again. Just a little bit of lime or lemon juice will give your cup of joe a new and refreshing experience.

Why Do Some Protein Powders Taste Bad?

There are two main reasons I have found that are early indicators that you’re in for not such a pleasant experience. First of all, if there are a lot of artificial sweeteners added, and the nutrition label has very difficult to pronounce chemicals on them, then 9 times out of 10 they will have that sickly sweet taste to them. For the average consumer, these sweeteners are not easily identified on a food label. Most processed products will be labeled “sugar-free,” but will contain an artificial sweetener. – Dr. Peter Osborne The other thing a lot of brands do is save production costs by not using natural flavors. Even the common vanilla, chocolate, and coffee options are often full of artificial flavors that simply taste nothing like you would expect. Why does your vagina taste like it does?

Many different factors contribute to the way your vagina tastes: your sweat, the breathability of your underwear, the laundry detergent you use, how clean you keep things down there, and what you eat. Where you are in your menstrual cycle matters, too. When you have your period, the iron in your menstrual blood will make your vagina taste more metallic, while during ovulation you’re likely to have a bit of a musky taste and scent.

Of course, good hygiene is just a matter of sexual etiquette, but if you have a hunch that your partner would rather slurp down a foie gras smoothie than perform oral sex on you, you might want to try modifying your diet to see if that changes thing up.

Simple tip #2: Use rolled oats or steel cut oats instead of packaged instant oatmeal

Instant oats are more processed than regular rolled oats, so they will have less fiber, and if you’re buying the flavored instant oat packets, they are usually packed with sugar and not much else.

Rolled oats can be microwaved and it’s just as easy to add your own mix ins to get good flavor without all that sugar. Check out my Perfect Microwave Banana Oatmeal recipe – it’s ready in minutes!

Here’s how to build a more nutritious and satisfying oatmeal bowl (that tastes great!):

1. Add some healthy fat

Adding healthy fat to breakfast will really help with satiety and staying power so you aren’t reaching for a snack 30 minutes later. Try adding a serving of your favorite nut or seed (e.g. slivered almonds, walnuts, pecans, chia seeds, ground flax seed, etc.) next time you have oatmeal. Nut butter also works here!

2. Add some protein. Tips:

  • Make the oatmeal with milk instead of water. If you’re using almond milk, it will add nice flavor, but won’t increase the protein content much. Soy milk is a better protein source, or you can add some protein powder if you want.
  • Top the oatmeal with cottage cheese when it’s out of the microwave. This is surprisingly delicious!
  • Add an egg to it! Just whisk the egg in before microwaving and proceed as normal. It will make it fluffy! Don’t toss the yolks, either – they contain all of the egg’s fat soluble vitamins!

3. Add some fruit!

One of my favorite ways to make oatmeal taste good without adding any sugar is to add a super ripe mashed banana to the bowl before adding the oats and milk. It makes it nice and sweet and creamy! I also love adding berries to oatmeal (if they are frozen, add them before cooking, otherwise, add them after it’s cooked).

Here are a few of my favorite oatmeal recipes with fruit: Almond Milk Overnight Oats with Berries, Chocolate Peanut Butter Overnight Oats with Banana, and Cherry Chocolate Overnight Oats.

By the way, here’s my favorite (& the absolute best) way to slice bananas for oatmeal!

How to make instant coffee

Instant coffee seldom tastes as good as brewed coffee, but there are steps you can take to improve the taste. The first step, of course, is buying the best brand of instant coffee you can find, like Waka. You will probably see bargain brands for sale, but these almost always taste worse.

The next step is ensuring you use filtered water. Many chain coffee shops use a special water filtration system to ensure purity, since even low levels of contaminants can affect taste. If you can, use bottled water or an at-home water filter.

Next comes the brewing itself. Make sure you use the little trick I talked about in the opening paragraphs: Before you mix your instant coffee with hot water, dissolve it in a small amount of cold water. This dissolves it more slowly and makes for a smoother cup.

And lastly, be sure the hot water you use has been freshly boiled. Water that sits in a kettle on the stove for a long while after boiling loses some of its vitality.

How much instant coffee per cup?

While it may be tempting to just eyeball how much instant coffee you put in your cup, doing so is a sure way to end up with coffee that’s either too strong or too weak. While your specific brand will likely have its own instructions, it’s a good general rule to use one to two teaspoons per cup of water. But if you like your coffee stronger or weaker, adjust accordingly. And let your taste buds be the guide—you can always add more coffee or or more water after tasting until you get it right.

5 Foods To Eat That Make Your Vagina Taste and Smell Better for Oral Sex

1. Pineapple or Pineapple Juice

The vagina is acidic. Eating pineapple or drinking pineapple juice, as well as other citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruit, helps to balance its delicate pH balance and add a bit of sweetness to those secretions.

The pH balance of semen is alkaline, so eating acidic fruits will help make it taste sweeter. Because pineapple has more acidity than other citrus fruits, it works the best out of all of them.

2. Cinnamon

Cinnamon, which is an alkaline spice, neutralizes the acidic taste of the vagina. It’s also mildly antibiotic, and there’s some evidence that it can help treat an active yeast infection. Better vaginal balance means better taste.

There’s a popular myth going around that goes like this: if a guy eats cinnamon, his semen will taste like cinnamon. This is true, to an extent. It won’t make semen taste like cinnamon gum, but people says it sweetens the taste. Hey, it works for your breath, right?

Don’t like cinnamon? Cardamom, peppermint, or lemon are also believed to do the trick.

3. Celery

Because celery is high in water and Vitamin C, it works wonders to reduce any bitter taste the vagina may have. Vitamin C is very effective in restoring the ecology of vaginal bacteria and promoting the growth of healthy flora.

That said, if your smell or taste seem really off, drop the celery stick, skip the oral and head to the doctor, as that can mean infection.

Celery, as well as parsley and wheatgrass, has a high chlorophyll content. That’s believed to help sweeten the taste of semen along with just about anything else that grows and doesn’t stink.

4. Yogurt

Yogurt must contain active live cultures to neutralize the taste of the vagina.

Eating one four-ounce serving of yogurt a day helps add probiotics to the body and maintain a healthy balance of good bacteria in your nether regions. That means minimal taste and odor, not to mention better health.

On the flip side, research suggests men should avoid yogurt. It may work well for the ladies, but yogurt and other dairy products are said to negatively affect the taste of semen. A study out of Harvard University also found that high consumption of high-fat dairy products can reduce sperm quality.

5. Cranberries or Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice naturally counters bacteria in the urinary tract system. It also helps keep pH levels balanced, which is good for keeping things from getting funky down below.

Cranberry juice increases the body’s acidity, which helps balance the alkalinity of semen. As a result, eating cranberries can reduce the saltiness of semen and sweeten it a bit.

How to make green tea taste better, hot or cold

If you don’t like the taste of your green tea, try brewing tea differently. If you are always using western brewing technique, switch to a multiple infusion technique with very short steep times. Learn how to brew green tea here.

When boiling, water loses oxygen and may make your tea taste flat and uninteresting. Use fresh water every time you brew green tea.

If you always brew your tea for 2+ minutes, never use water hotter than 176°F.

Tap water will make tea murky, too mineral and mask all delicate notes of tea. Spring water will always make the best cup of green tea.

Never use old dirty infusers, especially those that don’t smell good. They will ruin any delicate tea.
